The inaugural Sydney University Football Club Wallaby Legends Lunch took place at Sydney Uni on the 15th of June. It was great to be asked to create a film for the occasion, which gathered together twenty of the club's Wallabies, including guests of honour John Solomon, Dick Tooth and Saxon White, who played for Australia in the 1950s.
I produced an original documentary for the occasion, honouring Sydney Uni's Wallabies of the 1940s, 50s and 60s and featuring interviews with SUFC Wallabies John Solomon, Dick Tooth, Saxon White, John O'Gorman, Peter Crittle and Jim Boyce, along with cameos from Arthur Buchan, Terry McBride, all interspersed with rare archival footage and photographs to recapture the spirit of a bygone age of rugby at Sydney Uni and on the world stage. When Dr Solomon the first Wallabies to win at Cape Town in 1953, no international side had beaten the South Africans in a Test for 15 years. At the end of the match, the Boks hoisted Solomon on their shoulders and carried him off the pitch in a great sign of sportsmanship, remembered to this day. A special collector's edition of my film "Solomon, Tooth & White: Memories of a Golden Era" will be produced, including a recording of the lunch, which features MC Andrew Coorey's live interview with the guests of honour.
