Congratulations to Reg Smith who has been named as the new Patron of the Northern Suburbs Rugby Football Club. I was glad to be able to be there to record the occasion as part of an ongoing rugby heritage video project or Norths Rugby. President Grahame O'Donnell made the announcement and former President Russ Tulloch and teammate Peter Carson paid tribute. Reg is a 22 cap Wallaby, and former Shute Shield winning captain, president, and general manager at Norths Rugby. Read more (Norths Rugby Website)

Norths Rugby is approaching its 125th anniversary as a rugby club. As part of preparations for this great milestone, I've been asked to interview some veterans of the club to capture some of their amazing history. From origins in the late 1890s, Norths has produced 42 Wallaby representatives and won seven first grade premierships. Back in the 1980s, the club was relegated to second division, but true to its motto "fortune favours the brave", the club never gave up hope on returning to the top comp, and has never looked back after storming back in 1990. I look forward to hearing these tales and more as I meet with club stars and stalwarts in coming months.
